This policy explains what information is collected when you visit Leaf Litter Lab, why, and what choices you have. In short: we don't ask you to create an account, we don't use tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data.

Information we collect
Hosting and security
The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site, protect it against abuse and keep it running. We don't use this data to identify you. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site performs. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't store anything on your device and doesn't track you across websites. We only see aggregated statistics, such as page views, countries and referring sites.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use them only to reply and to improve our guides (for example, when you report a mistake). Our email is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing and stored with our email provider. We delete messages when we no longer need them.
Tools and search
Our calculators and tools run entirely in your browser. The values you enter are never sent to us. Site search also runs in your browser, and your searches are not sent to us.
Cookies
Leaf Litter Lab doesn't set any cookies of its own and doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies in some situations, for example to block bots.
Affiliate links
Some links may lead to online stores. If you click one, the store may set its own cookies to record that you came from our site. That's handled under the store's own privacy policy. See ouraffiliate disclosure.
Advertising
The site currently doesn't show ads. If we add advertising in the future, we'll update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are used.
Legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process technical and analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website, and emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Since we hold very little personal data, this usually concerns emails you've sent us. To make a request, email [email protected].
Children
The site is written for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy, for example when we add new services. The date at the top shows the latest version.
